Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan reminds residents that the last day to register to vote is right around the corner. The deadline to register to vote for the November election is October 6, 2014.
“Registering to vote is one of the easiest things you can do to ensure your voice is heard in our community,” said Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan. “You can pick up a voter registration application at any of our offices or print one online, complete and mail it to our office. Just remember, it must be postmarked on or before October 6, 2014 to be eligible for the November 2014 election.”
If a registered voter has moved within Harris County or had their name changed, they can update their voter registration information by visiting www.hctax.net and clicking on the Name/Address Change button under the Voter Registration tab.
“Since I came into office, numerous community organizations have attended our office’s volunteer deputy voter registrar trainings throughout the county as part of our outreach program,” said Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan. “To date, we’ve trained almost 3,000 volunteer deputy voter registrars and personally conducted more than two dozen voter registration drives. All of this has led to us having more than 2 million registered voters in Harris County.”
Harris County currently has 2,052,550 registered voters, of which 113,467 were registered this year.*
If a resident has questions about the qualifications, they can visit www.hctax.net or call 713-274-8200.
