Early voting begins today for the 2016 Primary Election and Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan reminds residents to check their voter registration status before they vote.
“Voting is incredibly important and I’m excited to announce that we currently have more than 2.1 million registered voters for the March 1, 2016 Primary Election,” said Sullivan. “With this increase, I want to ensure all registered voters know their voter registration status before they go to the polls.”
Harris County residents can check their voter registration status at www.hctax.net.

If an individual did not register to vote by the February 1, 2016 cut-off, they will not be able to vote in the March 1, 2016 Primary Election. However, they can still register to vote in future elections. “Just because you missed the cut-off to vote in the Primary Election is not a reason to get discouraged,” said Sullivan. “There will likely be a Primary Run-Off Election in addition to the General Election in November, and those elections matter just as much.”
Residents are encouraged to call 713.274.VOTE (8683) if they have questions or need assistance regarding their voter registration status.
Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan also serves as the Harris County Voter Registrar, who conducts voter registration activities and maintains a certified list of registered voters. Learn more about voter registration and the requirements by visiting www.hctax.net.
