Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan reminds residents to take advantage of the final weeks of Property Tax Workshops before the May 31st property tax protest deadline.
“This year’s Property Tax Workshops have been an incredible success,” said Sullivan. “With the rising appraisals and recent flooding, I want all taxpayers to know their rights and the opportunities they have to lower their tax burden.”
The Property Tax Workshops are open to the public. Homeowners will learn how to protest property taxes, learn what exemptions are available and how to apply for a payment plan for delinquent tax bills. Staff from the Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office and the Harris County Appraisal District will also be available to answer questions.
Residents are also reminded they can protest four ways:
- Online at http://www.hcad.org
- In person: 13013 Northwest Freeway, 77040
- By mail: P.O. Box 922004 Houston, TX 77292-2004
- By hiring a property tax consultant
If a resident has questions about the Property Tax Workshops, they can call our office at (713) 274-8000 or email tax.office@hctx.net. The last day to file a property tax protest is May 31, 2016. Please see the final workshops below:
